1964 Ford Falcon Rallye Sprint for P & G Version 3.1In 1963 and 1964, Ford entered a team of Falcons in European Rally events, most notably the Monte Carlo Rally.The 1963 car was the Falcon Sprint, a two door version of the Falcon family sedan, and powered by the 260 Ford V8 The Rally team was headed up by Swedish driver Bosse "Bo" Ljungfeldt and navigator Gunnar Haggbom. The other team crews were Peter Jobb (UK) & Trent Jarman (USA), and Anne Hall (UK) & Margaret McKensie (SCT)The cars were prepared by Holman & Moody.The cars did not win the 1963 Monte Carlo Rally, but Peter Jobb won the over 3000cc class, and Bo Ljungfeldt won the final leg, and it was the first time that one car had won all six special speed runs.For 1964 a new model, designated the Rallye, was entered. Once again they were prepared by Holman & Moody, engine size increased to 289, revs to 7000rpm and delivering a reported 305bhp. The cars were lightened with extensive use of Fibreglass panels (978 kg\2156 lb), along with many other refinements to the suspension.The crew line up remained the same as the previous year with the only change being Denise McChuggage (USA) navigating for Anne Hall.The 1964 Rally team was managed by Alan Mann.All the Falcons finished the 1964 Monte Carlo, and despite setting fastest times, Bo Ljungfeldt finished second to the winning Mini.
